Harry Redknapp has called Everton ‘quite average’ under manager Marco Silva following their surprise FA Cup defeat to Millwall on Saturday.

The Merseyside club led the thrilling cup encounter on two occasions, but the home team kept coming back before they eventually netted an injury-time winner.

Silva, who has previously managed Hull City and Watford in England’s top-flight, replaced the sacked Sam Allardyce in the summer.

But former Tottenham boss Redknapp admitted that he hasn’t been too impressed with what he has seen at Goodison Park as he offered some brutally honest views in the manner in which they have been playing.

“I have got to be honest, Everton are a great club, but they do look quite average,” Redknapp told the Alan Brazil Breakfast show on 28/01/2019.

“I watched the game when Tottenham went there and they beat them six. I mean when you go on beat Everton six at Goodison Park [then chuckles].”

At this moment in time, Everton are sitting outside of the Premier League top 10, three points behind seventh-placed Watford.

On Tuesday night, they will travel to Yorkshire to take on bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield as potential dropped points or even a defeat would seriously increase the pressure on the under-fire Silva.

The Toffees will be hoping star man Richarlison, who opened the scoring against Millwall, can fire them into a run of positive results, with high-flying Wolves visiting Goodison Park at the start of next month.
