Harry Redknapp has said he finds it strange that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, and many other Premier League managers, are so amicable after defeats on Redknapp’s Big Night Out.
Arteta has endured a disappointing season at Arsenal, yet his touchline demeanour has always been calm.
The Arsenal boss is generally courteous to his players on the pitch at full time, regardless of the result.
It is a modern day management style which is typically adopted by most elite level bosses, who are more sensitive to player’s reactions than old school managers.
But Redknapp thinks that Arteta and other Premier League bosses should be showing more anger directly after defeats.
“You know what I find strange now, the managers now, Arteta – all of them,” Redknapp said.
“The game ends and they walk on the pitch, shake hands with everybody, they go up to the referee and shake his hand. All lovely and friendly.

“They’ve just got beaten 5-0! You want to get them in the dressing room and say ‘you useless gits! You’re a disgrace. £100,000-a-week, you’re useless,” he added, with a laugh.
Redknapp’s comments may show the difference between modern day management and the older generation of Premier League bosses.
Players are typically more sensitive to criticism these days, and there are various signs that such a hard-line approach doesn’t breed the same success as it used to.
Arteta’s Arsenal side have badly disappointed this term though, so perhaps a few more home truths do need to be told.
Arsenal are currently in ninth place in the Premier League table, which represents a serious under-performance from the Gunners.
