Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in signing Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in January.
Harry Redknapp has suggested that Everton midfielder Ross Barkley could struggle to fit into Tottenham Hotspur’s first-team on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 15th December.
Barkley has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent times by the London Evening Standard.
The 23-year-old has found it difficult to hold down a place in Everton’s starting line-up this season, and there is a feeling that Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has his doubts about the attacking midfielder.
Tottenham are said to be monitoring the situation, and they could make a bid in the January transfer window.
However, Redknapp believes that Barkley’s game time at White Hart Lane could be limited at White Hart Lane, if he was to move to North London.
“I’m a big fan of Barkley, but it’s a difficult one,” Redknapp said. “They have Dele Alli there, they have a lot of players with fantastic ability in the middle of the park. Whether that’s what they need… It’s difficult for anybody to break into the starting 11 for anybody.”
Barkley has made 14 appearances for Everton in the Premier League so far this term, but he has only claimed two goals.
If he was to move to Tottenham he would have to get past the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up.
As things stand, Everton are in eighth place in the Premier League table, while Tottenham are in fifth.
