Harry Redknapp has suggested to talkSPORT that he cannot see West Ham United finish in the top six of the Premier League next season.

West Ham finished 13th in the Premier League during the 2017-18 campaign after struggling for survival for much of the season.

The Hammers have been quite busy so far this summer and have made a number of signings.

Among the players Manuel Pellegrini’s side have signed so far this summer are midfielders Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson.

Former West Ham midfielder and manager Redknapp has suggested that the London club will not end up in the top six of the Premier League next season.

Redknapp told talkSPORT: “I think West Ham have invested well, but honestly I couldn’t see anybody else making the top six. I couldn’t see West Ham making it to be true. I think the top six will be the same again.”

Top-six hopes for West Ham United?

West Ham are building a strong squad for the 2018-19 campaign, but there are a number of teams who are better than them or at least as competitive as they are.

Both Everton and Burnley will be eyeing a spot in the top six of the Premier League next season, while Chelsea and Arsenal – who missed out on the Champions League places in 2017-18 – will be aiming to challenge for the top four.

It is going to be hard for West Ham to break into the top six next season, but the London Stadium faithful will at least hope that the team make a genuine challenge.
