Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to take on Arsenal in a mouthwatering Premier League encounter.

Harry Redknapp has defended Tottenham Hotspur’s Chrisitan Eriksen and slated Arsenal ahead of the North London derby by claiming that he’s not ‘over-excited’ about them and they’ll be ’30 odd points’ off the top two again.

Ahead of Tottenham’s showdown with Arsenal on Sunday, Mauricio Pochettino has come out and said that his squad is ‘unsettled’, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Playmaker Eriksen was left out of Spurs’ starting XI in their defeat to Newcastle, with his future in doubt ahead of the European transfer window closing on September 2.

Speaking to The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (27/08/2019 at 8:15 am), Redknapp shared how he had a similar problem with Luca Modric when he was at the club, but just like the Croatian, he doesn’t think Eriksen is a bad egg either.

“They [Tottenham player] are not going to be on peanuts, that’s for sure, they’ll be earning good money,” Redknapp told TalkSport. “But what is the problem? Why is their unrest? If there’s only Eriksen who we are talking about that wants to go then, either play him until he goes or say ‘I’m sorry, I am not going to play you and I don’t want you around the squad’.

“He doesn’t look like a lad that is going to cause a problem, is he? He’s not a lad who’s going to say, ‘If I don’t get a move, I’m turning it in and I’m not going to play’. He looks a good sort of boy to me. I had the same problem with Luca Modric. Chelsea came in, they were ringing him and trying to get him to sign. But he still played.

On Arsenal-Spurs clash: “I’ll be honest, I am not overexcited about Arsenal, either when you look at them – they are short in midfield still of real quality and they are short at the back. They have got good forward players, but I don’t see Arsenal being anywhere near. I still see them being 30 odd points adrift of the top two again.”

With the North London derby against Arsenal only days away, Pochettino has a big decision to make as to whether he starts Eriksen or not.

Given his recent comments and the magnitude of the game coming up, the last thing Spurs fans will want to see at the Emirates Stadium is a team playing in an ‘unsettled’ manner.

If Eriksen does start then it’ll no doubt increase their chances of picking up points because if he plays then Spurs’ midfield has that spark it has been missing in recent weeks.
