The former Tottenham Hotspur boss would like to see Spurs risk the striker this weekend.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has been speaking about the potential for Harry Kane to feature in the North London derby this weekend.

The England striker suffered an ankle injury against Sunderland in mid-September and has been fighting hard to get himself back fit for this fixture.

He has been in light training this week and it is expected he will be on the bench for the game against Arsenal this weekend.

If that is the case then Redknapp is in no doubt, Mauricio Pochettino should give him minutes on the pitch.

He wrote for the London Evening Standard:

“You don’t want to risk him breaking down and being out for months on end but if Harry believes he’s ready to go then get him out there.

“Mauricio Pochettino could always keep him up his sleeve and bring him on with half an hour to go to strike a bit of fear into Arsenal but either way he must be involved somewhere.”

Spurs have been struggling to find the goals without Kane in recent weeks. Vincent Janssen has struggled for form and Heung-min Son’s early season form appears to have tailed off.

Tottenham have drawn their last three Premier League games, against West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester City. Redknapp feels that with Kane involved, they would have won at least one of those games:

“Spurs have still looked good without him but you can’t replace someone like Harry. He was the Premier League’s top goalscorer last year and gives the team another 10 per cent on his own.

“Harry’s such a good finisher and at least one of those draws against West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester would have been wins had he been around.

“He could have been worth four or even six points to them already this season.”

It is a difficult decision for Pochettino, who must balance the urge to throw in his most deadly marksman against the risk of his fitness not yet being up to scratch.

But Redknapp, like most Spurs fans, would love to see him continue his great form against Arsenal this weekend.
