Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp asked an interesting and pertinent question regarding Simone Zaza on the Drive show on talkSPORT on Monday afternoon (broadcast from 4pm, September 26, 2016).

The Englishman asked why Juventus, who are aiming to win Serie A and the Champions League this season, let Zaza leave.

The 25-year-old Italy international joined West Ham from Juventus on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.

Redknapp has asked why Italian giants Juventus would let a striker go if they are aiming to win major honours this season.

“You do have to ask yourself: why would you loan him out if you are Juventus?” said Redknapp about Zaza on the Drive show on talkSPORT on Monday afternoon (broadcast from 4pm, September 26, 2016).

“You are in the Champions League, they are realistic challengers this year in the Champions League, Juventus, they won’t be far away, they are looking to win the league again. Why would you go and loan out a striker?”

Redknapp’s question is very pertinent, and the answer is very simple: Zaza is not a very good striker.

The 25-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Italy national football team, but he has been able to score just once.

During the 2015-16 campaign, the former Sassuolo striker could score five goals and created six chances in 19 Serie A appearances for Juventus.

Juventus have much better strikers than Zaza in their squad at the moment.

Gonzalo Higuain, who was signed from Napoli in the summer transfer window, Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala are far better than the Italian.
