The Aston Villa youngster has produced some encouraging displays at U23 level.
It has been an encouraging season so far for Aston Villa, with the club in fifth place in the Championship and in with a chance of securing a place in the playoffs.
There have also been some positives for Villa to take at U23 level this season, not least the performances of Harry McKirdy.
Signed from Stoke City in 2011, McKirdy, who can play as a striker or an attacking midfielder, has made impressive progress during his time at Villa.
Having gained experience during a loan spell with League Two Stevenage last season, McKirdy has returned to playing for Villa’s U23 side this campaign and has produced some excellent displays.
So far this season McKirdy has scored four goals in eight Premier League 2 fixtures and is playing with much confidence.
Earlier this season the 20-year-old signed a contract extension with Villa that is set to run until the summer of 2019 indicating that he could still be given a chance to succeed in the first-team.
McKirdy is still awaiting his first competitive senior call-up for Villa, but the youngster, who is impressive technically, cannot do much more at the moment to convince manager Steve Bruce that he deserves an opportunity.
