Sheffield United academy graduate Harry Maguire has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months, not only establishing himself as one of Leicester City’s first names on the team sheet but also making a name for himself at the World Cup for semi-finalists England.

The 25-year-old centre-back was born in Sheffield and came through the ranks at Bramall Lane before making the step up to senior level in 2011 and going on to make 166 appearances for the Blades, even scoring 12 goals and registering 10 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

In 2014, Maguire then moved to Hull City, making a name for himself there too, and in 2017 he joined the former Premier League champions – put simply, his career trajectory has gone up, even culminating in reported interest from Manchested United last year, according to multiple media outlets including The Sun.

However, Maguire has not forgotten his roots, and when Sheffield United sent a Twitter message paying tribute to him and fellow Blades alumnus Kyle Walker, he sent a tweet in response:

Some Blades fans took very kindly to being recognised by Maguire and the defender got a very pleasant response in return:

With United doing so well in the Championship, there is a good chance Maguire could be facing his former club in the Premier League next season, and he will be sure to get a great reception from the Blades faithful.
