According to a report form the Mirror, Leicester will ramp up their interest in Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson, if Harry Maguire leaves for Manchester United this summer.

The Mirror claim that United are weighing up a £65 million bid for the 25-year-old England international, and if he eventually moves to Old Trafford, the Foxes will obviously need to bring in an able-bodied replacement.

And Boro’s Gibson could be just the man for the job.

According to a report from the Mirror, the 25-year-old could be available for around £12 million this summer, and in today’s market that could prove to be fantastic value for money for Leicester.

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Gibson is strong in the air, and whilst he is not the quickest of defenders, he is a wonderful reader of the game – something that more than makes up for his lack of pace.

He is an excellent organiser, and leads by example in the way that he conducts himself both on and off the pitch, and he would be a superb addition to Claude Puel’s side.

Gibson would more than make up for the void left behind by Maguire, should the England ace leave the King Power Stadium, and the east Midlands outfit would still be £53 million in pocket.

For just £12 million, signing the Middlesbrough ace seems to be a no-brainer for Leicester, and they would then be able to use the surplus funds garnered by the sale of Maguire to invest in other areas that are in need of attention.
