Harry Kane’s comments on Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hint his future may depend on Argentinian

Harry Kane has heaped praise upon Mauricio Pochettino after Harry Winks became the latest Tottenham Hotspur player to play for England.

Harry Kane told Sky Sports in the wake of England’s victory over Lithuania that the game proved why Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is up there with the world’s best.

The reason for Kane’s praise was the fact that the World Cup qualifier saw Harry Winks become the latest Spurs player to make his debut for the England side, and the striker suggested that the Argentinian deserved the praise with five Tottenham players in the current squad.

“(These players earning their England debuts) show Mauricio’s one of the best managers in the world, if not the best,” he told Sky Sports.

“He brings players through, gives them chances on the big stage and they deliver for him. We can’t thank him enough for that. He deserves all the credit.”

Kane has been fantastic since Pochettino arrived at Spurs, and perhaps this latest praise for the Argentinian just shows that the forward deems the former Southampton boss to be a key reason for his success.

The praise also came in a week when Kane was linked with an eye-watering move to Real Madrid, with Don Balon suggesting a £177m bid may be in the offing.

While Kane’s success as Tottenham’s talisman probably means that he is not thinking about leaving the Premier League in the near future, he would be forgiven for thinking about his future as he gets older, especially if Spurs do not manage to win the trophies they arguably deserve to win in the coming years.

So perhaps it would be fair to suggest that given his clear admiration for Pochettino, Kane’s future at Tottenham could well be influenced by how long the current manager remains at the helm.

Kane clearly feels that Pochettino is integral to what Spurs are doing. And so, if the manager moves on, he may have his doubts about whether they can replicate that success under his successor, so perhaps whatever Pochettino’s future holds may have a bigger impact on Kane’s own path than some may have thought.
