Harry Kane says Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is ‘on fire’ after his goals helped England progress to the knockout stages of the Qatar World Cup, as the Tottenham Hotspur striker posted on Instagram.

England won the battle of Britain out in the desert of Qatar, with two Rashford goals and a Phil Foden tap-in resulting in Gareth Southgate’s side beating Wales 3-0 and sending them packing to the UK.

Even though it’s knockout stage time now, Tottenham’s hitman is yet to get off the mark, with Rashford himself leading the goalscoring charge at the World Cup.

Along with France and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, he has three goals to his name, and what’s even more impressive, is that he has only started one match.

Either way, Kane, who supplied Phil Foden with an assist for his goal, shared his thoughts on yesterday’s game and he had some positive words to say about the duo.

“Great win,” said Kane. “Big performance from the boys. It was really important to top the group. We have finished the group off well against a tough side.

“Marcus (Rashford) is on fire with two great goals and another great finish from Phil (Foden). Keep it going. It’s knockout football now. A tough game against Senegal, so the boys are feeling good and resting up now for an important game on Sunday.

“The support, as always, was incredible at home and in the stadium as well – let’s keep it going.”

ONTO THE KNOCKOUT STAGES…

It’s Senegal up next for England – this Sunday – and Southgate has some big, big calls to make, mainly in his forward areas.

Harry Kane is an obvious starter, it’s just a case of who will sing and dance beside him. Is it a case of he just simply can’t ignore Rashford now?

Or does he keep him on the bench knowing that someone like Bukayo Saka, who was rested for yesterday’s game, performed just as well against Iran in the opening game of Group B?
