Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League, seven points adrift of top spot.

Harry Kane has urged his Tottenham teammates to replicate the form they showed during December and January of last season if they hope to get their Premier League title bid back on track, the Daily Mirror reports.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently fifth in the top flight, but have already fallen seven points adrift of current league leaders Chelsea, having failed to win half of their games this term.

But going into the Christmas period – that often proves so critical to the title race as games come thick and fast – Kane has suggested that Tottenham can bring themselves back into contention.

“We spoke about how these next couple are very important,” he said, as reported by the Mirror.

“Last year in December and January we really pushed on and put a good string of results together. That is what we have got to do now.

“We have definitely got some winnable games coming up, some good games at home that we should definitely win.”

“We are looking at these next two months to build on this win against Swansea, hopefully get a few wins in a row and push us up the league and start fighting for the title.”

After the same number of games last season, Spurs were fifth and ultimately moved themselves up to fourth by the end of January.

However, it was the momentum that they built during that period that arguably proved crucial to their chances of featuring in the title race.

From the middle of January until the middle of February, they registered seven consecutive wins in all competitions, so had built a lot of belief that went a long way to ensuring that they remained in the running to catch Leicester right until the final weeks of the campaign.

And with the top four so congested currently, Pochettino’s men will know that a few good results over the next couple of months may see them make up a lot of the ground that they have lost in recent weeks.
