After Tottenham Hotspur were eliminated out of the Champions League after their 0-0 draw against AC Milan, Harry Kane has admitted that their season has been a failure.
Antonio Conte’s side have suffered a rough week, starting with their shock exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Sheffield United before going on to lose against Wolves in the Premier League and now exit Europe’s elite competition with a whimper. Once again, Spurs have failed to win a trophy in what has been a tumultuous season for them.
Harry Kane, who is often pressured to bring silverware to Tottenham has now candidly expressed his thoughts on his side’s campaign after they lost 1-0 to AC Milan over two legs in the Champions League.
Harry Kane reacts after Tottenham suffer disappointing Champions League exit to AC Milan
With Antonio Conte’s future up in the air, a place in the top 4 looking uncertain, a failure to win a single trophy once again and the football being a drab watch, the club’s loyal fanbase have been discontent with things at Hotspur Way this campaign.
It seems one of their own in Harry Kane completely agrees when quizzed about whether Tottenham can consider their season a success after failing yet again to lift silverware off the back of their upsetting European exit against AC Milan.
“No, I don’t think so. Where we’re at as a club, we should be winning trophies. That’s always the aim. The top 4 [alone] is a consequence of us not playing well as well as we want to play. Now, that’s all we can fight for, so that’s going to be the goal and hopefully, we can achieve that come the end of the season. But for sure, it’s not enough for this club.”

“I totally understand [the fans’ reaction]. Top 4 [alone] is not good enough for anyone at this club, especially the fans. They have the right to voice their opinion. The last week especially just hasn’t been good enough. Before the Sheffield United game, the season could have been a whole lot different.”
“If you go through there, you take that momentum into the league game [against Wolves] and this game. But I feel that loss last week put a dagger in our hearts and as you can see, we haven’t really recovered from that”, he told the Evening Standard.
Harry Kane also spoke about how he feels Tottenham lack a winning mentality after their disappointing exit from the Champions League against AC Milan.
“Over the two legs, we can’t really say we did enough to get through. That’s just the reality of it. We need to improve in a lot of aspects and that’s just the bottom line.”
“We’ve talked about mentality before and that ruthless hunger to be better, to be the best, to be one of the best teams in Europe. We just haven’t quite found that yet.”
