Tottenham Hotspur are without Kane for their trip to Manchester United on Saturday.

Jamie Redknapp says Jose Mourinho and his centre-backs will have been ‘dancing around’ at the news that Harry Kane won’t play for Tottenham Hotspur at Manchester United on Saturday.

Writing in his Sky Sports column on Friday, the former Tottenham midfielder went on to add that ‘when Kane is not fit … Spurs are a different team’, still a ‘dangerous’ and ‘strong’ one, but ‘not as strong as it would have been if Harry Kane were playing’.

Of course, no team would rather be without a player of Kane’s ability. However, the impact on Tottenham may not be grave as Redknapp thinks.

Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on October 22, 2017 in London, England.

Spurs have been here before, as recently as last season, when Kane missed eight Premier League fixtures, split into two blocks.

And not only did Mauricio Pochettino’s team avoid defeat in that time, they won five of those – including one against current league leaders, Manchester City.

Indeed, you have to go back as far as October 2014 for the last time Tottenham lost a Premier League fixture without Kane.

Mauricio Pochettino, Manager of Tottenham Hotspur speaks to the media during the Tottenham Hotspur Press Conference at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on October 16, 2017 in Madrid, Spain.

Since then, they’ve won 56 of the 98 top flight matches in which the 24-year-old has appeared – or, in other words, 57.1 per cent. Without him? A whopping 62.5.

And although the situation is perhaps more complex than that, Tottenham still have every chance against Manchester United.

Let’s see who’s dancing around at 14:15 tomorrow.
