The South Korean scored twice for Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend.
Harry Kane has revealed to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that Son Heung-min was disappointed with his debut season with the Lilywhites last term.
The 24-year-old forward joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen last summer in a £22 million deal which did not look like paying dividends for large spells of his maiden bow.
The South Korean netted only four times in 28 Premier League appearances – and two of those came in the final three league games of the campaign.
With that being said, Son – who has made one league appearance this season – has already moved halfway toward equalling last season’s record following his excellent brace in the 4-0 demolition at Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Kane has revealed that the man was himself was not happy with his opening season for Tottenham, but the 23-year-old says he has recovered in fine fashion.
“Talking to him, he was perhaps a little disappointed with his own performances last season and it’s about how to recover from that and he’s been doing everything to do that,” he told Spurs’ official website.
“He’s been great in pre-season, he did well in the Olympics for South Korea and now he’s back and training hard. That has given him confidence and then when you go out and score two goals like that and assist another – you can’t ask for more.
“That’s what we need, everyone in the squad ready to play.”
Son will hope to keep his place when Tottenham welcome Monaco to Wembley on Wednesday for their first Champions League outing in five years.
