Harry Kane has made it clear on Instagram that Matt Doherty’s ‘7.7 rating’ for Eric Dier’s pre-season goal for Tottenham is ‘a little low’

Tottenham are in South Korea where they took part in their first pre-season game of the summer by beating Team K League 6-3 in front of over 60,000 fans in Seoul.

Dier decided to channel his inner Kane by carrying the ball forward towards the edge of the box, before unleashing a thunderous effort into the back of the net via his weaker left foot.

It’s a goal that drew a lot of praise, including from former Spurs forward, Erik Lamela, who gave his former teammate a 10/10 for his goal.

But when Doherty was providing his own rating, it’s something that Kane disagreed with, as the England captain thinks the goal was ‘8.9/10’.

“I am going to rate his goal a 7.7,” said Doherty. “I thought he showed great composure. It was also on his left foot and he came out of defence well. And he just looked in control the whole way through, so a 7.7.”

Kane responded: “Hmmm, that’s a little low. A little low. Coming from a goalscorer, I am going to give it an 8.9. Really good goal. Coming in, it’s not easy on the weaker foot and he has whipped it back across into the bins.

“Really hard finish and he has made it look easy, so an 8.9 from me.”

STRONG TOTTENHAM SUMMER

It has been a pretty positive summer for Tottenham so far, with Antonio Conte being backed in the transfer market with five new faces and now their opening pre-season win.

With six weeks remaining until the transfer window slams shut, those in north London will probably add to their already-growing list of players.

Spurs are back in the Champions League, and with Conte in the dugout, they are being heavily backed to cause a few problems next season.

The Premier League’s top two have been unmovable for the past few years, with Liverpool and Manchester City dominating those spots, especially the latter.

But could Spurs be the team to upset that top two and push even further than their fourth-placed finish from last season?
