The Tottenham Hotspur hitman tied Defoe’s record of 23 European goals on Tuesday night.

Tottenham hero Harry Kane spoke to reporters after his match-winning performance against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night, and shared his delight at matching Jermain Defoe’s record of 23 goals scored in European competitions, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Kane, 25, has already usurped Defoe once this season, moving above him into fifth place on the club’s all-time record goal scorers list, after he netted against Brighton and Hove Albion in September.
The England international has picked up right where he left off last season, scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions thus far.
Kane spoke to reporters after his side’s vital 2-1 win over PSV in the Champions League, and joked that he will have a bit of banter with Defoe when he next sees him, after equalling his European goalscoring record, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“I remember him breaking that record – I recall him chirping up about it then! He’s a top lad, Jermain, and I’ve always said I learned a lot from him growing up. I’ll always be thankful to him. If I see him, I’m sure we’ll have a bit of banter about it but he’s one the best goalscorers ever.”
Kane will undoubtedly overtake Defoe at some point this season, and if Tottenham are to have any chance whatsoever of qualifying for the knock-out stage of the Champions League, the Englishman will have to be on his very best form in their final two group games.
