Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League dreams are still alive.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last night, and shared what he and his teammates were thinking when they levelled the match in the 78th minute, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Spurs quite simply had to win last night in order to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages of Europe’s premier competition, and they did not disappoint.
The north London outfit had to be extremely patient against the Dutch outfit, however, and had to wait until the 89th minute before they notched their winner against the stubborn visitors.
Kane spoke to reporters after the game at Wembley Stadium last night, and highlighted how calm and patient the Tottenham players were after equalising against PSV, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“You have to stay as patient as you can and believe, believe that a chance is going to come our way and that we’re going to take it and then, we’re going to get another one. When it went to 1-1, there was still 10 minutes plus stoppage time left and we knew we had plenty of time to carry on knocking that wall down. We kept fighting until the end, we knew it was our last chance to stay in the Champions League and we managed to turn it around.”
Tottenham still have their work cut-out, if they are to qualify from their group, with victories over Inter Milan and Barcelona being the absolute minimum requirement.
