The Spaniard has struggled to establish himself at Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been on fire this season, and he opened up to reporters on how his sparkling form has been helped from having someone like Fernando Llorente around to learn from during training, as quoted by ESPN.
The England international is now widely considered to be one of the continent’s most lethal forwards, and has chalked up an impressive 35 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions this season for Spurs.
Llorente, meanwhile, has not had things quite so good at Tottenham, since making his £12 million switch from Swansea City in the summer of 2017, and has scored just two goals in 26 outings this term.
Kane, though, insisted that the Spaniard has proven to be an important part of the Tottenham squad this season, when speaking to reporters, highlighting how he has learnt from his teammate’s quality in training, as quoted by ESPN:
“I just try to use my strength and bring others into play. That’s an important part of the game. Fernando is great at that. He’s tall, solid, uses his arms well to push players off, and that’s important. I’ve been watching him in training holding the ball up. I try to learn from every player. It’s great having him here, he’s a great guy and has great experience as well.”
Spurs currently sit in fourth position in the Premier League table, and are still involved in the FA Cup and the Champions League.
If they are to enjoy a successful campaign come what May, Kane will need to keep up his sensational current form, and if Llorente can help him do that, the much-maligned Spaniard will deserve some credit too.
