Chelsea had been threatening to run away with the title, and while this could be a minor bump in the road for the Blues, it gave them a losing feeling in the league for the first time since September.
The win also saw Tottenham go above rivals Arsenal and into third place, and star striker Harry Kane was delighted with the performance.
Commenting after the match on Twitter, Kane hailed the atmosphere at White Hart Lane, and praised teammate Dele Alli.
Kane did not get a sniff of goal in the game, failing to register even a shot, but with Chelsea paying him close attention, it allowed Alli the space inside the box to head home both goals.
