Tottenham ace Harry Kane spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday, and offered high words of praise for his teammate Hugo Lloris, suggesting that the Frenchman stepped up in the North London Derby, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The 32-year-old has received heavy criticism over the past week, after a couple of shaky performances that led to back-to-back defeats for Spurs, but the experienced stopper seemed to be back to his best against the Gunners.

Whilst Tottenham are now almost certainly out of the Premier League title race, Saturday’s point could prove to be vital to their top four aspirations.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men currently sit three points clear of fourth placed Manchester United and a further point ahead of Arsenal, with only nine games remaining this season.

Things could have been so different for Spurs, however, had Lloris not saved Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s last minute penalty, and Kane chose to praise his teammate when speaking to reporters after the game, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“We got the goal and it was a massive save from Hugo. He stepped up. It could be a vital point for us.”

Next for Tottenham is a trip to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund tomorrow in the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie.

Spurs hold a three-goal lead against the Bundesliga outfit, and with Lucien Favre’s men desperate to reduce that deficit, Lloris can expect a busy evening at Signal Iduna Park.
