Tottenham Hotspur have never won the Champions League, and they will be hoping to change that fact this season.
Tottenham ace Harry Kane spoke to reporters over the weekend, and admitted that it’s unlikely that Spurs will win the Champions League this season, but he did suggest that it is not impossible, as quoted by the Express.
The north London outfit have endured somewhat of a nightmare week since losing to Burnley nine days ago, taking just one point from three league games – a run that left their Premier League title aspirations in tatters in the process.
Tottenham do have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but their last 16 tie with Borussia Dortmund is far from over, and they will have to be on their very best form tomorrow night, if they are to protect their three-goal lead.
Kane spoke to reporters, and responded when asked whether Spurs are capable of winning Europe’s premier competition this season, as quoted by the Express:
“It’s not impossible that we can win the the Champions League – anything is possible. It’s unlikely at the moment but we’ll see what happens.”
If Tottenham do get through against Dortmund, they will be confident that they can beat anyone in Europe, but whether their players have the required mentality to do that when it matters, however, remains to be seen.
Mauricio Pochettino himself suggested only last week that it could take another five years to reach that level, but Spurs fans will be hoping that the Argentine is way off the mark.
