Harry Kane has responded when asked by the Evening Standard if the doubts over Antonio Conte’s future are affecting the Tottenham players – stating that the Italian’s future is up to the man himself, if he wants to remain in the dugout.
Conte, 53, has come in for enormous criticism with many fans and pundits calling for his head. It comes after a woeful run of three results that has seen Spurs knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League, also losing to Wolves.
Kane, 29, was largely a bystander on Wednesday night as Milan suffocated a Spurs side lacking creativity. In a system designed to be defensive, failing to break Milan down due to a lack of creativity. He did have a late chance for Spurs.
His powerful header was saved well by Mike Maignan, but that was about it for Spurs. With the pressure now on Conte and Mail+ reporting that the Spurs board are unconvinced about extending Conte’s deal – Kane gave his verdict.
“That’s his decision, he’s going to be the one that makes that choice [on his future]. All we can do as players is try to perform for him. Work as hard as we can,” Kane told the Standard. “We’re trying, we’re just lacking something.”

Conte has simply got to leave Spurs. The question should no longer be, whether he stays or goes in the summer. But it should be, when will Spurs sack him – now, or at the end of the season. Conte hinted he could be sacked last night.
Spurs fans have had enough. The issue with playing for a club that prides itself on attacking, free-flowing football is that bringing in a pragmatic manager will only frustrate fans if the results are bad. It looks unlikely Conte now stays.
