Harry Kane put the finishing touches on a hard-fought win for Tottenham Hotspur tonight.

Spurs moved into the semi-final of the League Cup with a difficult 3-1 win away to Stoke City.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring for Tottenham but the Championship side drew level on 53 minutes through Jordan Thompson.

But Ben Davies restored the visitors’ lead on 71 minutes, before Kane killed the game off as a contest later in the game.

It’s been a difficult last week for Tottenham, who suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats by Liverpool and Leicester City, leaving them six points adrift of the latter.

But this keeps their chances of a trophy alive and here’s how Kane reacted to the win on Twitter tonight:

Neutral fans might say it’s only the League Cup, but Tottenham haven’t won anything since 2008 and therefore this would be a very welcome addition to the trophy cabinet.

More importantly, it gives these Spurs players some experience at delivering silverware, experience which could be invaluable further down the line as Jose Mourinho undoubtedly targets bigger prizes.
