The Spurs striker is likely to get his first taste of the eternal rivalry on Friday.

Harry Kane has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur teammate Kyle Walker has briefed him on what to expect as England gear up to face old rivals Scotland on Friday, as quoted on the club’s official website.

Kane is hoping to play at least some part for Gareth Southgate’s side as the Three Lions host Gordon Strachan’s men at Wembley, Spurs’ Champions League home this season.

The 23-year-old was not yet a part of the England set-up when the country last faced Scotland back in 2013, but his Spurs teammate Walker played the full 90 minutes in a 3-2 victory.

Kane made a goalscoring return to competitive action in Tottenham’s draw with North London rivals Arsenal last weekend, and he compared that game with what lies ahead at Wembley on Friday.

However, he revealed that Walker has told him that the atmosphere in the international clash will be unlike anything he has ever witnessed before.

Kane told the Tottenham website: “Obviously he [Walker] has been involved and he knows that feeling. I’ve spoken to him about it a bit and he said the atmosphere was like something he’s never heard before.

“All we can do is take that as a positive and look forward to these games, be excited for these games. You want to put on your best performances on the big occasions. For me, it feels great to be back for Spurs and now to be back involved with England.

“You could say that (I’m going from) one rivalry to another – we all know how big the game is this Friday and we’re all looking forward to it very much. It’s going to be an amazing atmosphere, great competition on the pitch so all we can do is take preparations like Sunday into the international games and that’s what I’ll be doing.”

It remains to be seen whether Kane will be involved from the start on Friday. He only returned from a seven-week spell out injured against Arsenal five days ago, and he is thought perhaps to be unlikely to be named in Southgate’s line-up.
