Harry Kane and Jermain Defoe were teammates at Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has spoken to The Telegraph of a piece of advice he got from his former teammate Jermain Defoe.
Defoe, now on the books of Premier League club Sunderland, enjoyed two successful spells with Tottenham.
The England international is rated as one of the better strikers and goalscorers in the Premier League, and Kane has revealed what he told him about missing chances.
“Defoe told me once ‘if I miss a chance then the odds are now in my favour to score the next one because the chances of missing two in a row are less than missing one’,” Kane told The Telegraph.
“And that’s what I try and take. If I miss, then the next one is more in my favour to score. It’s about little things like that.”
Big season ahead for Harry Kane
Kane is one of the best young English players around and enjoyed a superb season for Spurs in 2014-15.
The youngster scored 21 goals and created as many as 27 chances in 34 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season.
The 2015-16 campaign has not started well for the Englishman, as the North London outfit went down 1-0 to Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in their opening game of the Premier League season.
Many will question whether Kane can repeat his truly marvellous form of last season and will claim that he is a one-season wonder.
The English youngster will be determined to prove his detractors wrong, and one suspects that he will be looking to open his tally this season against Stoke City at the White Hart Lane on Saturday.
