It was a frustrating day for Harry Kane in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt on Sunday.
The 27-year-old started and finished Spurs’ 4-0 demolition of Sheffield United in North London but the game sort of passed him by a little.
Not that Kane wasn’t involved because he certainly was, but the Tottenham hitman wasn’t his usual, ruthless self.
There was evidence of that in the first half when he missed a chance that he would’ve converted with his eyes closed on another day, before then firing into row-z after a cut-back from Sergio Reguilon.
And later in the half, Andy Hinchcliffe, speaking during his commentary on Sky Sports, claimed that Giovani Lo Celso incurred the wrath of Kane by taking on a shot that the forward felt he should have passed.
He said: “Harry Kane’s not happy. He’s saying to Lo Celso ‘you should’ve just been unselfish and rolled the ball back to me’.”
It was the Gareth Bale show for Tottenham last night.
The Welshman scored a stunning hat-trick and another from Son Heung-min added gloss to the scoreline.
It was a brilliant win for the Lilywhites, even if the Blades have been relegated already, and the victory takes them into fifth, above Liverpool and West Ham United.
There’s four games to go and Tottenham remain five points behind Chelsea in the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.
