The Tottenham Hotspur striker is chasing more than one of Alan Shearer’s records.

In the long term, Harry Kane is chasing Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record of 260.
The Tottenham Hotspur hero has 86 goals in 122 starts so far, so has a long way to go.
But another Shearer record is well within his immediate sights – Premier League goals in a calendar year.

Throughout a prolific 2017, Kane has found the net 29 times, including a brace in Sunday’s victory over Liverpool at Wembley which made him this season’s Premier League top scorer with eight goals.
The 24-year-old needs a further eight in Tottenham’s 12 remaining league matches this year to surpass Shearer’s total of 36 goals for Blackburn Rovers in 1995.

At the rate of 1.16 goals per league game that Kane is scoring in 2017, he will pass Shearer’s record with five games to spare.
In the process he will also overtake Premier League greats Ruud van Nistelrooy, Les Ferdinand, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie.
Shearer’s huge haul helped Blackburn to a shock Premier League triumph. Can Kane’s goals take Tottenham to the silverware which both he and the club are desperate for?
