The news that no Tottenham Hotspur fan wanted to hear emerged following the 6-0 FA Cup rout of Millwall – Harry Kane faces a long-term injury.
Kane hobbled off with an ankle problem that could keep the striker out for the rest of the season, leaving Mauricio Pochettino with big problems in attack and a need to prove he is not too reliant on the England forward.
Kane’s statistics are certainly impressive, with more Premier League goals (68) since the start of the 2014/15 season than anyone else. Unfortunately his potential replacements, Vincent Janssen and Heung-Min Son, cannot boast the same.
Son may have bagged a hat-trick against Millwall, but his preferred role is as part of the three-man attacking midfield behind Kane and his one-in-five goal return confirms that.

Janssen, meanwhile, has found life at Spurs difficult following a summer move, with one league goal to date. Of the five he has scored in all competitions just two have come against Premier League opposition and only one has not been a penalty.
With Tottenham still fighting for league and cup glory, without Kane it could prove very difficult.
