Tottenham Hotspur visit Manchester United in their second midweek game of the Premier League season. So, what are Spurs’ biggest top-flight wins on a Wednesday night to date?
The north Londoners have previously played 109 times on a Wednesday since the Premier League was founded in 1992. They have also won on 48 occasions, with Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min all contributing to the club’s best result over those games.

Eriksen will look to deny Tottenham a 49th win on a Wednesday after joining Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils signed the Denmark maestro on a three-year contract as a free agent after he left Brentford. Eriksen had seven years at Spurs from 2013 to 2020.

Tottenham have won 48 Premier League games on a Wednesday so far
Tottenham’s trip to Manchester United on October 19 will be their 63rd top-flight game on a Wednesday away from home. It will also be their second visit to another Premier League club on a Wednesday this season after travelling to West Ham United at the end of August.
The Hammers held Spurs to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium after Tomas Soucek replied to Thilo Kehrer’s first-half own goal. It marked Tottenham’s 25th Premier League stalemate on a Wednesday. The north London club have lost 36 of their 109 on that day of the week.
Just 47 of Spurs’ Premier League matches on a Wednesday have also been played at either White Hart Lane, Wembley or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Their last two home games also ended in a Tottenham defeat with Aston Villa and Southampton winning 1-2 and 2-3.
Tottenham will hope to now add a 49th win when Kane and co visit Eriksen at Manchester United on Wednesday. So, with that in mind, what are Tottenham’s biggest Premier League wins on a Wednesday to date as they seek just a fifth victory at Old Trafford in the division?

Tottenham took their biggest Premier League win on a Wednesday vs Bournemouth
Tottenham sealed their biggest Premier League win on a Wednesday so far at home to AFC Bournemouth in December 2018. The game still represents their only victory by a five-goal margin on that day of the week since the top-flight was reformed for the 1992/93 season.
Eriksen broke the deadlock against Eddie Howe’s Cherries just 16 minutes into the meeting in north London. The Dane’s early shot deflected into the back of Asmir Begovic’s net from Kyle Walker-Peters’ pass. It was also his third goal of the 2018/19 Premier League season.
Son swiftly doubled Spurs’ advantage with his sixth of the season seven minutes after their opener. He flashed a right-footed finish past Begovic for Walker-Peters’ second assist. The full-back made a hat-trick of assists on 35 minutes as Lucas Moura hit his sixth of the term.
Eriksen later turned provider just after the hour mark to find Kane for the striker’s 12th of the season. Moura then matched his goal with a first assist of the term after he found Son on 70 minutes. Pochettino would then take Kane, Eriksen and Son off before the final whistle.

Spurs achieved their first victory by a four-goal margin at home to Fulham in 2007
Tottenham registered their first win by a four-goal margin at home to Fulham in December 2007. The Cottagers visited White Hart Lane struggling for form and left beaten after a pair of braces by Robbie Keane and Tom Huddlestone. Clint Dempsey did score for the visitors.
Keane broke the deadlock after 27 minutes before Huddlestone got in on the action on the stroke of half-time. Dempsey’s goal reduced Fulham’s deficit, but the west London natives would not build on the American’s attempt before Keane and Huddlestone hit home again.
Jermain Defoe rounded out the scoring on 90 minutes for a 5-1 win and gave Huddlestone an assist. Steed Malbranque, Dimitar Berbatov (2) and Aaron Lennon also recorded assists.
Tottenham would claim their first 4-0 Premier League win on a Wednesday in March 2009 at home to Middlesbrough. Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko and a brace from Lennon proved enough against a Boro squad managed by Gareth Southgate at the wrong end of the table.
Harry Redknapp oversaw their biggest away win at Hull City
August 2009 would return Tottenham’s biggest Premier League win on a Wednesday while away from home at Hull City. Harry Redknapp oversaw a comfortable 5-1 win away to Phil Brown’s Tigers to go second in the early table. The result left Hull in 18th after two games.
Defoe only took 10 minutes to break the deadlock as he rifled past Boaz Myhill for his first goal of the season. Wilson Palacios would then double the margin just four minutes later. And while Stephen Hunt replied on 25 minutes, Defoe scored again just before the break.
Keane would head home on 78 minutes to pull Spurs further clear of their hosts as he met Lennon’s cross. Defoe then ended the scoring in stoppage time to complete a hat-trick at Hull. He sent a second right-footed shot into the back of Myhill’s net from Lennon’s pass.

Tottenham needed another three years before Spurs won a Premier League game by four goals on the road again. With Andre Villas-Boas at the helm, the north Londoners travelled to Aston Villa in December 2012 and returned to the capital on the back of a 4-0 victory.
Defoe was again the architect as the forward met Kyle Naughton’s pass to open the action on 57 minutes. Then up-stepped Gareth Bale, as the Wales winger fired a hat-trick beyond Brad Guzan. He scored three goals with left-footed attempts after 61, 73 and 84 minutes.
Emmanuel Adebayor inspired Spurs’ last 4-0 top-flight win on a Wednesday
Emmanuel Adebayor inspired Spurs’ last 4-0 top-flight win on a Wednesday after scoring twice at Newcastle United in February 2014. The 66-cap Togo international scored his first of the night at St James’ Park in the 19th minute to register his seventh goal of the season.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City forward then turned provider to find Paulinho on 53 minutes for Tottenham’s second goal. And Adebayor was again getting in on the act on 82 minutes when he followed in Andros Townsend’s effort. Nacer Chadli would also score.
Tottenham are yet to repeat their 4-0, 5-1 or 5-0 wins in the Premier League in games on Wednesday nights ahead of visiting Manchester United. Spurs have also won by three-goal margins six times, with their last being a 4-1 win away at Southampton in December 2016.
