Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has backed teammate Kieran Trippier, telling the club website it is a pleasure to play with him.

Trippier has been a back up at Spurs since signing in 2015 but over the last two months of the season he has stepped up his fight to claim a first team spot.

He started in the FA Cup semi-final, and in the last two games of the season with Kyle Walker out injured.

Trippier provided two assists in the victory over Hull on the final day of the season, with Harry Kane a beneficiary.

Speaking to the club website, Kane hailed Trippier’s contribution.

He said: ““His delivery is unbelievable, he gets into great positions and as a striker, that’s perfect.

“I just have to get myself into the box, make the runs and he’ll put the ball where I want it.”

At almost any other club in the Premier League, Trippier would be first choice, and his performances have made Spurs comfortable entertaining the idea of cashing in on Kyle Walker.

Walker remains a Spurs player for now but interest is ramping up in his signature, with The Sun reporting that German giants Bayern Munich are planning to step up their pursuit of the £40 million rated defender.

Kane’s comments about Trippier will only serve to re-assure Tottenham’s decision makers that they are making the right choice if they elect to sell Walker.
