The England Under-21 international striker’s deflected free kick in the 90th minute of the Premier League clash at Villa Park proved to be decisive.
However, it could have been different had a certain Erik Lamela got his way.
Just before the free kick was taken, television camera caught Kane and his Spurs teammate Lamela discussing who should take it.
It was clear that Argentina international attacked Lamela was keen on taking the free kick, but it was Kane who took it. And scored.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the 21-year-old said: ‘He wanted it. He obvious took one the before so I said that this was mine. And it ended up in the back of the net’.
Kane not allowing Lamela to take a last-minute free kick demonstrates his supreme confidence.
With Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado ahead of him in the pecking order, chances do not always come for Kane easily. But as the English youngster showed on Sunday, he is now ready to step up and be given more opportunities.
