Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon has said on Amazon Prime Video Sport that Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is the best player he has played against in the Premier League.

Reguilon joined Tottenham from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.

The 24-year-old Spain international defender has named City and Belgium international midfielder De Bruyne as the best player he has faced in the Premier League so far.

Reguilon said on Amazon Prime Video Sport when asked to name his toughest opponent in the Premier League: “I think Kevin De Bruyne. Too intelligent. Very good player.”

Yet more praise

This is not the first time that a Tottenham player has publicly praised City star De Bruyne.

In May 2021, Tottenham striker Harry Kane raved about the 30-year-old on Gary Neville’s The Overlap.

De Bruyne has been superb for City over the years and is a world-class footballer.

The Belgium international is as complete a midfielder as you will get.

De Bruyne scored six goals and gave 12 assists in 23 Premier League starts last season, and scored 13 goals and gave 20 assists in 32 league starts for City in 2019-20.

Praise from opposition players such as Kane and Reguilon underlines just how highly De Bruyne is rated by fellow professionals.

The Belgian, who could not make an impact at Chelsea, has scored 42 goals in 181 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
