Phil Foden and Harry Kane have both congratulated Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins after his goal on debut for England last night.

Watkins came off the bench in the latter stages against San Marino yesterday, and it did not take him long at all to open his account for his country.

The Villa front man opened the space up well with a good touch, before producing a great finish to complete the scoring for the Three Lions.

It was a special moment for the striker, who was playing non-league football not too long ago.

And both Tottenham’s Kane and Manchester City’s Foden were keen to congratulate him at full-time.

England’s players’ joy for Watkins was clear to see from their celebrations after he scored.

The Villa striker now appears to be pushing hard to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships.

It has been quite the season for the former Brentford and Exeter man, in what has been his first campaign in the top flight.

England now have games against Albania and Poland remaining over the current international break.
