Tottenham drew 1-1 away at Arsenal in Sunday’s North London derby.

Tottenham Hotspur continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 1-1 draw away at rivals Arsenal in Sunday’s North London derby.

Spurs entered the game on something of a low having lost 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek, and manager Mauricio Pochettino decided to spring a surprise by going with a 3-4-3 system against Arsenal.

Early on, Tottenham were by far the better side, but fell behind when Kevin Wimmer turned the ball into his own net, handing the Gunners a 1-0 lead from Mesut Ozil’s free kick.

Tottenham needed to respond, and they did just that early into the second half as Mousa Dembele was brought down by Laurent Koscielny, with Harry Kane stepping up to score on his return.

Spurs hero Kane was handed a shock start despite having not played for seven weeks, following an ankle injury picked up against Sunderland back in September, but he was once again the hero as his goal proved to be the equaliser.

Pochettino’s problems aren’t over just yet; Spurs haven’t scored a goal from open play in six games, and haven’t won a game since the 2nd of October against Manchester City.

Still, Sunday’s point was a good one, and Tottenham players took to Twitter after the final whistle, with Wimmer thanking fans for their support after his unfortunate own goal.

Victor Wanyama added that it was a ‘fair result’, whilst Dembele was happy with an improved performance from his team-mates after the disappointing showing against Leverkusen.

Defender Jan Vertonghen admitted he was happy to have Kane back from injury, before the man himself said it felt ‘amazing’ to be back in action, claiming he has missed the feeling of scoring goals.
