The Tottenham Hotspur pair will be hoping to impress in Slovakia, in Sam Allardyce’s first game in charge.
England’s Eric Dier celebrates after scoring
England players including Tottenham Hotspur stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier have been pictured boarding the plane that will take them to Slovakia for their opening World Cup qualifying match.
Only a couple of months after their disappointing performance in the European Championships in France, the Three Lions are getting stuck into trying to make the World Cup in Russia in 2018. They’ll start by visiting a country who frustrated them in the summer, with Slovakia surprisingly drawing 0-0 against Roy Hodgson’s side, which was much changed from its strongest eleven.
Spurs striker Kane will be eager to get back on the goal trail, having failed to net throughout the tournament. It means he has currently gone five international matches without a goal, while he has also struggled to threaten for Spurs, drawing blank in the club’s opening three matches of the Premier League seasons.
The 23-year-old, one of four Tottenham players set to start the game tweeted a picture of himself the plane that will take the squad to Slovakia.
Dier, one of England’s strongest performers, was also pictured by the FA’s Twitter page, enjoying a joke with England number one Joe Hart, set to start despite being shipped out to Torino on loan by Manchester City.
Danny Rose and Kyle Walker are the other two Spurs men who will begin the match.
