Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter has praised Tottenham Hotspur after his side held the title-chasers to a goalless draw on Saturday, and has made light of the incident in which he was caught by a flying elbow from Moussa Sissoko, as quoted by BBC Sport.

The Cherries continued their impressive recent form by holding firm against Spurs to limit the North London club to a single point in the weekend’s early game.

Spurs have been in fine form so far this season, and though they will have been frustrated not to come away with all three points, the stalemate did extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season to nine games.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino

Arter had nothing but praise for Mauricio Pochettino’s side after the match, but stressed that Eddie Howe’s team had a gameplan to avoid defeat against their hard-working opponents.

The midfielder said, via BBC: “They are an unbelievable side and worked ever so hard, we had to match that today. For a 0-0 it was great game to watch.

“We knew they have a fantastic team, they have not lost in the league and you can see why. We had a gameplan.”

Arter also went on to discuss the controversial incident in the second half which saw him struck by the elbow of Spurs midfielder Sissoko, something which many believe should have resulted in a red card.

Arter, though, was more forgiving and insisted that he knows that the Frenchman is not the sort of player to commit such an act on purpose.

He added: “He [Sissoko] said afterwards he caught me by accident. He is not that sort of player.”

It remains to be seen whether Sissoko will face any punishment from the FA for his actions.
