Aston Villa are reportedly set to sign Harold Moukoudi from Le Harve.

Harold Moukoudi could be just what Aston Villa need, as Steve Bruce looks to bring some optimism back to Villa Park, with the Express and Star suggesting the defender is close to signing.

Although Moukoudi’s quality is largely unknown, he ticks all the boxes for the sort of player Villa need.

Bruce has frustrated Villa fans with his persistence over picking Mile Jedinak at centre-back.

Jedinak just doesn’t look comfortable at centre-back, but it is Moukoudi’s natural position.

And Villa fans should also be enthused that Bruce’s transfer policy seems to have shifted slightly.

Although the claret and blues have brought in proven players this summer, Moukoudi presents a different type of option.

The Frenchman is largely untested, but has masses of potential, and could develop into a star with Villa.

That should excite supporters, and his arrival could be just what Villa need, after what has been a difficult start to the campaign.
