The Newcastle United player looks set to be a free agent this summer and a move to Rangers seems a no-brainer.
Newcastle United’s Haris Vuckic has enjoyed one fine season in an otherwise disappointing career, with his loan spell at Rangers seeing the Slovenian score nine goals and provide four assists in 22 appearances.
It was the kind of form that suggested he could have a future at St. James’ Park after all but now, with his contract about to expire, the 24-year-old is at a crossroads.
The same could be said of Rangers.
What the Gers need now is players who can not only get them challenging Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but ones who also understand what it is like to represent the club and, perhaps most importantly for the club’s hierarchy, ones who will not break the bank.
As a result, a free transfer for Vuckic this summer could be the ideal scenario for all parties.
After all, Vuckic appeared to have found a home at Ibrox, with his loan spells both before and after falling short.
The squad Rafa Benitez has built at Newcastle means a new contract is all but impossible and Rangers should snap Vuckic up while they can.
The queue may not be too long for the player’s services but he has proved he can perform in Scotland and he would join Rangers with a smile on his face and a point to prove.
The two could be a match made in Heaven; each rejuvenating the other just when they need it the most.
