Jurgen Klopp admitted on Premier League Productions after Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton that Thiago Alcantara sufferd problems with his defensive positioning last night.
A number of Liverpool fans were excited at the prospect of Thiago starting at St Mary’s, but the game didn’t turn out in the way he would have liked.
After taking a very early lead through Danny Ings, the usually dominant Thiago found himself being swarmed by Southampton shirts as they tried their best to stop him from dictating play.
Whilst things improved for the technician after the break, the champions of England failed to make a breakthrough, as Klopp shared his thoughts on his display,
“Thiago defensively one or two moments he’s not in the right position,” said Klopp. “That’s normal. Offensively, you, of course, expect something.
“It was his first 90 minutes. It’s difficult, so that’s all okay. Some things are hard to explain.
“But you shouldn’t bring yourself in a situation where you feel the rush in a game. ‘Now, we have to score, we have to score’. Football needs a calm mindset aswell.”

Liverpool must be getting seriously frustrated with their away form because they have dropped more points on the road.
The last thing they needed was a trip to where they had the nightmare of all nightmares earlier on in the campaign – Villa Park – because they visit the Midlands on Friday night for an FA Cup showdownn.
Whilst there won’t be any more seven’s, it’s still going to be another tricky fixture for a previously consistent side struggling for some form.
