West Ham United were reportedly interested in signing the PSG man before he joined Roma.
West Ham missed out on the signing Javier Pastore, after the Argentine agreed to join Roma, but the news shouldn’t spell doom and gloom for Hammers fans.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder is wonderfully talented, of that there is no doubt, but he is approaching an age now where his powers will begin to wane, and moving to the Premier League from the more pedestrian Ligue 1 could very well have proven to be problematic.
Pastore has missed 368 days of action through injury over the past four years, according to Transfer Markt, and that certainly wouldn’t have boded well for his chances of being successful in England, what with the robust nature of the Premier League.

The former PSG man would have cost West Ham £17.5 million in transfer fees, as well as his extortionate £190,000 per-week wage demands, according to Sky Sports, so the deal would have been a hugely risky one for the Hammers.
This summer will be a vitally important one for Manuel Pellegrini, and if he is to imprint his fluid, swashbuckling style at the London Stadium, he will surely be targeting physically robust players who can help him achieve his goal.
Whilst Pastore could have been a real hit at West Ham, the risk involved in bringing him to east London would have far outweighed the potential gain, and Hammers fans shouldn’t feel to aggrieved to have missed out on the Argentine.
