Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube Channel, Kevin Campbell has claimed that Reiss Nelson has every right to feel hard done by due to the limited chances he’s had at Arsenal.

The ex-striker went on to say that the winger probably should have been sent out on loan this season.

“Reiss Nelson, I think he can feel a little bit hard done by at times, but I still think maybe he should have gone out on loan and be playing week in, week out.” Campbell said.

Can you really argue with Campbell’s point here?

Nelson isn’t getting a fair shake this term, he hasn’t played a single minute in the Premier League.

We’ve already seen how productive a loan spell can be for him, as he netted seven goals in 23 league games during his time in the Bundesliga a couple of seasons ago, so if you’re not going to use him, why would you leave him just rotting on the bench.

Mikel Arteta said that Nelson was his personal project at Arsenal, but he seems to have completely forgotten about him, and that’s a real shame as he looked ready to make the step up at one point.

Of course, he’s only 20, so he still has plenty of time to turn this around, but if Arsenal want him to develop into the star he’s capable of becoming, they need to start giving him more opportunities.
