Liverpool legend John Barnes has given his take on Twitter on Manchester City winning their appeal against the two-year Champions League ban.
Barnes, who played for Liverpool in the 1980s and the 1990s and won the league title twice with the Reds, has stated that he is “happy” for City being able to overturn the decision.
The former England international winger has also given his opinion on Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules following the decision on City, and so has ex-England international striker Gary Lineker.
As announced on Sky Sports, City will play in the Champions League next season after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned the two-year ban from European football imposed by UEFA for breaching FFP rules.
BBC Sport have reported that the former Premier League champions will have to pay a fine of €10 million (£8.96 million).
The ruling from CAS means that City, who are second in the Premier League table at the moment, will be able to play in the Champions League next season, and it will be a relief for the Etihad Stadium faithful.
