Ronaldo Vieira posted on his Instagram story ‘happy for you’ after Adam Forshaw completed his first 90 minutes for Leeds on Sunday in nearly 799 days.
The 30-year-old has been ravaged by injuries of late and he has had to deal with a number of setbacks along the way.
But Forshaw started at Elland Road yesterday for the first time in the league over two years, as Leeds recorded a 1-1 draw against Leicester and his former teammate, Vieira posted: “Never give up @Adam Forshaw. Happy for you bro”.
Forshaw was taken off just before the end, but he still completed 90 minutes and he would have surely loved that because it has been a long time coming.
As much as Forshaw has missed those minutes in the league, Leeds have needed his presence in the middle of the park, especially when Kalvin Phillips has been on the sidelines.
Now for the technically-gifted midfielder, it’s all about trying to avoid those little knocks and remaining injury-free.
It will be interesting to see how Bielsa uses him after the international break because the games will come thick and fast.
Given that Forshaw hasn’t tasted regular minutes out on the field of late, he may still need to be eased back in by his manager, even though he has been fit for some time now.
But during a campaign where Patrick Bamford is still injured, Leeds’ centre-backs still have their problems and Phillips has also missed out, it’s finally great to see positive news on that very same subject for the Whites.
