Everton forward Richarlison has posted on Instagram that he is ‘happy’ for Aston Villa’s new signing, Philippe Coutinho.
On Saturday, Villa recorded a 1-0 win over the Toffees at Goodison Park, with both Coutinho and Richarlison starting the game.
After years away from the Premier League, Coutinho is trying to get his career back on track and Richarlison sent him this classy message.
In the comments section of his message, Coutinho responded by simply posting: ‘Thanks. Good to see you brother. God bless’.
Whilst Coutinho had a Villa debut to remember last week when he scored the equalising goal of Villa’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United, he didn’t manage to make it two from two over the weekend.
But it was still a positive and uplifting display from the on-loan Barcelona man, who is showing signs of his old self under Steven Gerrard.
There were a couple of lively moments from the 29-year-old against Everton, including a long-range effort and close-range header that were both saved by Jordan Pickford.
Villa have an option to buy the quick-thinking playmaker at the end of the season and if he continues on his current road, then there is no reason why he shouldn’t be donning the colours of Claret and Blue next season.
But, for now, Coutinho is heading for international duty after earning a recall to the Brazil squad after signing for Villa.
Whilst Coutinho will be departing for South America for crucial World Cup qualifiers, his fellow countryman, Richarlison, has been left out of the latest squad.
But it’s no surprise given the mess Everton have been in and how it’s hard to stand out and be counted in their current situation.
