Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football London that he is very happy with the media’s coverage of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon now.

After Bale scored the winner for Tottenham against Brighton & Hove Albion, Mourinho joked that he would be keeping an eye on how the Spanish press reported on the game.

Bale had taken plenty of stick during his time in Madrid from the press.

But Mourinho felt that they were far more positive towards Bale after he found the back of the net for the first time following his return to Spurs.

“Some of the press said I was going to look at Real Madrid’s website but I didn’t say that,” he said.

“I just said about the Spanish media, the media that used to not be very nice with Gareth and yes I read and yes they were very fair with him and the connection with Reguilon, another player from Spain.

“They were very honest and I’m happy about that.”

Bale’s goal could well have placed him into starting contention back at Tottenham now.

The Welshman has made a rather slow start back at Spurs, as he seeks full match fitness following an injury issue, but he seems to finding a groove again now.

Mourinho insists that Bale still isn’t capable of playing for 90 minutes, but he may be backed to start, even if he has to be taken off before full-time.

Tottenham are in action against Ludogorets in the Europa League tonight, and Mourinho has already confirmed that Bale will be in his starting line-up.
