Arsenal fans believe that Mikel Arteta’s comments point towards the arrival of Chelsea’s Willian this summer.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with Willian for many months now, with the Daily Mail most recently reporting of the Gunners’ interest in the Brazilian last month.
Willian’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and Arteta’s latest hint does suggest that he could fit the profile of player Arsenal are looking at.
“You need players that have the experience in the Premier League and they’ve done it here, so in terms of adaption the process it is much quicker,” Arteta said to the Daily Express.
Willian would certainly offer Arsenal the Premier League experience that they apparently desire.
And Arsenal fans think Willian’s arrival has just edged closer due to Arteta’s comments.
Willian is now 31, but he has proven that he can still have a role to play at the top level at Chelsea this term.
Willian, who is on a £120,000-a-week contract (Spotrac), has hit nine goals and claimed seven assists in 35 appearances for Chelsea, which represents a very credible return.
If he was to sign for Arsenal and repeat that sort of form he could prove a bargain addition, especially on a free transfer.
