Ibrox club Rangers will hand Gers youngster Ross McCrorie new contract. Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have no such young centre-backs with huge potential on their books at the moment.

According to a report in The Scottish Sun, Rangers are set to hand Ross McCrorie a new contract.
McCrorie’s current deal with the Gers runs until June 2019, and and his reported new contract will see him committed to the Ibrox outfit until the summer of 2021.
McCrorie has made only a handful of appearances for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, but the youngster has shown enough quality to prove that he is a superb talent.
The 19-year-old central defender could established himself in the Rangers first team as the season progresses and could be a massive long-term success.

The (reported) decision of Rangers to hand McCrorie a new deal is a step in the right direction, and one that Celtic fans can only dream of at the moment.
Celtic have a much better squad than Rangers do at the moment, but one thing they lack is a promising young centre-back.

True, the Hoops are doing well in the Scottish Premiership with the defenders they have, but their performances at the back in the Champions League have underlined the lack of top-quality players in that area.
If manager Brendan Rodgers had a talented and promising young defender in the mould of McCrorie, then he would have made use of him by now.
