Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce slammed Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury last month.

Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury has told the Daily Mail that he feels Steve Bruce’s comments about him were ‘unnecessary’.
The Foxes travelled up to Newcastle for a Carabao Cup tie last month, which finished 1-1 after 90 minutes as James Maddison’s opener was cancelled out by Yoshinori Muto.
Leicester ended up winning on penalties to advance into the third round, but that wasn’t exactly the biggest talking point to emerge from the game.
Newcastle ace Matt Ritchie suffered an injury in that game, which was sustained from a rash challenge by Foxes midfielder Hamza Choudhury.
Bruce came out after the game and slated the youngster, telling The Guardian that he could have ended Ritchie’s career with such a poor tackle.
Choudhury received similar criticism for a terrible challenge for England Under-21’s against France this summer, and he won’t want to get a reputation at such a young age.

Choudhury has now admitted that he didn’t agree with Bruce’s comments about him, calling them unnecessary whilst claiming that Bruce only made those comments because his team lost and he didn’t want to talk about the game itself.
“I didn’t agree with the comments he made,” says Choudhury. “They were unnecessary, talking about breaking legs. It wasn’t that kind of tackle. It’s just that his team lost and he can look elsewhere and talk about the tackle and not have to talk about losing the game,” he added.
